Presentation

This is an illustrated presentation of the milestones in the development of the diving industry, from the first commercial helmet dive off the Isle of Wight in 1829 to today’s global saturation diving capabilities.

Subsea Exploration and Processing—New Challenges, New Tools
George Hall and Cameron Marshall, Severn Subsea Technologies Ltd
This presentation by Severn Subsea Technologies (SST) will review the development of
Badger Explorer, an innovative autonomous exploration tool for obtaining subsurface
data to map hydrocarbon resources and provide long-term field surveillance. Drawing on
its experience of Badger and HPHT tools, SST is now developing the valve technology
needed to meet the demands of subsea processing in deeper waters and higher
pressures.

Riserless Subsea Well Intervention (RLWI) and Workover Riser Intervention Systems
Drummond Lawson, Subsea Technologies Ltd

The presentation will give an introduction to Riserless Subsea Well Intervention (RLWI)
and Workover Riser Intervention systems, introduce some of their key attributes and
benefits and also identify their limitations. It will provide a background overview to the
history of RLWI, and discuss the future opportunities and potential for this
technology. Finally, it will introduce some of the unique technologies that STL have
developed for this market, and discuss how the market dynamics drive the development
of customised products specific to this niche area of the oil and gas industry.
