Austen Watkins

Austen Watkins is a Decision Support Specialist within the Energy and Resources section of the Bureau of Meteorology.  He obtained a Graduate Diploma in Meteorology in 2010 and has been an operational meteorologist across multiple disciplines of weather forecasting in Western Australia up until 2020. Through this experience, Austen has moved to a more specialised role involving operational meteorology and communicating weather related risks and uncertainty to end uses. During the cyclone season in Australia,  Austen is embedded within Australian Offshore Oil and Gas companies with the primary focus of supporting asset managers and emergency management personnel with high level decision making around planning and response to cyclone hazards.
