Miles Parsons

Dr. Miles Parsons is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Marine Science and Technology, Curtin University, where he has been conducting underwater acoustics research for the past twelve years. After graduating in mechanical engineering from Cardiff University, Miles came to Australia and became immersed in marine wildlife as a Divemaster in Coral Bay, Ningaloo and commenced his PhD research in acoustic methods to monitor fish spawning aggregations at CMST, in 2005. Miles’ research projects now focus on fisheries acoustics, understanding the impacts of noise on marine fauna, habitat mapping, bioacoustics and soundscape ecology, with a particular focus on the use of novel methods and technologies.
